Twas the Sunday before Thanksgiving and all through the house
not a creature is stirring... no one is home, not even a mouse. ; )
We are traveling from Utah, and a wonderful visit
with family and a baby blessing of Lance Whitford.
As we drive through a blizzard I start to feel ill.
Joining the feverish Isaac and Ben, I take a pill.
groaning and moaning and wishing to be dead...
Thinking of the house I desperately need to clean,
before 4 families descend to partake of Thanksgiving.
Tuesday we trek the drifts for antibiotics,
Good Idaho snow drivers make it less chaotic.
With the snow piled high and the streets sheets of ice,
I worry if the families will safely arrive.
Feeling better I hurriedly clean and clean and shop.
Wednesday they arrive and fill the house to the top.
Smiles and hugs and laughter and noise,
the perfect way to fill the weekend with joys.
The food was superb, the company best,
We ate a ton, then took a long rest...
Visiting and leftovers and movie nights,
Talks on Sunday for Dan and I.
Gid and George, asleep in the attic,
Lots of laughter, a warm cozy hearth,
It was a piece of heaven, ...so sad to part.
Memories made and bonds strengthened,
So glad my family are also my good friends.
