Isaac - 4 and fabulous!

Isaac was born on a Monday.  Minutes after it became a Monday. It was a water birth with midwives and my mother was there.  I hope I didn't scare her completely out of her wits.  If I did, she has recovered nicely. : )
Isaac was so pink when he came out and his hair so light we questioned whether it might be reddish.  Well as Isaac himself informs those who try to describe it as 'red', it is in actuality, 'ORANGE!'

I think his 'orange' hair and fair skin also brought with it a sensitivity to some things.  Specifically corn, which he was allergic to for three years. It gave him a horrible rash and really bad baby acne that lasted for 7 months.  The whole family gave a huge sigh of relief when that ended as corn is SO very hard to avoid.
Isaac was adored as a baby and small child.  He grew up with so much adulation that he  always acted as if he was the star, and he usually was, making him the favorite of cousins and Aunts and Uncles.
He often quips the most amusing sayings and comments.  Here is a small sample-

"Is peanut butter the honey's friend?"

"Mom what does your breath smell like?"
"My breath?"
"Yeah, does it smell like grasshoppers and spiders like Daddy?"

“I got eyes in my soap!”

“I,I,I lost my cry.”
Mom-“You did?”
 “I, I,I, can’t turn it back on.”
 “Oh?”
“It’s gone.”
“Where’d it go?”
“It turned off, I,I,I lost it.”

"Aah! Aah! Aah!, the toilet put pee on my foot!"

 Mom (on Sunday morning)
“Isaac did you take a bath?”
Isaac “I did.”
Mom “You did?  When?”
“On Tuesday.”

 "Is Daddy your wife?"

"Where are all the spiders?"
 mom "Taking a nap."
"Are they taking a little nap?  Because they are cranky?"
Mom smiles, "Yep".

We enjoy listening for fun things from Isaac. But he also makes us smile by dancing to music, singing beautifully, his amazing smile, and perfectly honest hugs and kisses. He loves to help and will often say "I wanna do it!" He also says that if you did it for him and he is having an independence streak, which he has been having for a while this year...

He is enamored with all things 'Cars' 'Toy story' and 'How To Train Your Dragon'. His favorite shirt is a 'Cars' shirt and his favorite pants are a pair of black jeans. I still don't know why the pants are his favorite...maybe he is a GQ man in the making? (they do look good!)

Isaac is a favorite at primary, where his smile and quirky comments have made him a constant source of enjoyment. He was very put out that he had to go to the Sunbeams class at church and miss out on the snacks and toys in the nursery.  Even so he enjoys going and is picking up the songs and concepts there.  He has a tender but still resilient heart.  This year the 'theatrical threes' is in full force and I'm hoping with his upcoming 4th birthday that he will calm down a bit.  Isaac needs to take a nap everyday or he's "cranky." He sleeps as long as his 20 month old brother.  It's a nice break for Mom in the middle of the day.
His Halloween costume (and St. Patrick's day costume) for 2 years was a Leprechaun.  It was perfect.
He is like his brother's and sisters and likes to dress up, sometimes he gets help too. :) Here he is very possibly hearkening back to his roots.  Interestingly his great grandfather Hines, who also had the flaming locks, was gracious enough to bequeath them on Isaac before he died 3 days before Isaac was born.  I often say that he was making sure the hair was staying somewhere on the planet.
Isaac's best friends are Hyrum, Ethan (aka Lilo), and Kook.  Kook lives at our house and has yet to be seen by any one here but Isaac. He assures me he does indeed exist and sleeps in Isaacs closet. He looks just like him and has orange hair.  I'm so happy! I always wanted twins.  :)
