Fruits of the draining

 

Every year here they drain the canals before winter, and this is the second year Gideon (and Claire this year too,) have gone to the back of our property where we have a canal and literally scoop up fish that get stuck in the puddles and don't make it back to the river.  It's fun and challenging to run after and net them, the kids get wet and then of course cold and come in exhausted but, as they should be, they are always so proud of themselves! 

 We had fish for dinner the next day and though the kids love to catch the fish...at this point, they don't really like to eat them much.  Too bad we can't go back there and catch salmon every year instead!  ;)
