Cleaning out the well

Last spring the little boys decided to pull down all the (badly placed) rocks and cement from around the well. It came off so easily and so dramatically that before long it was a big heap of stones and cement in a ring around the well.  Yay for me.   Well I didn't deal with it fast enough and before long they found it was way fun to throw the rocks down the well through the 5 x10 inch opening in the side if the well. Double yay for me.  Well, well, well.

A year later I finally decided to clean it out. So Gideon was our gofer, and George helped me at the top. We put a ladder down, Gid climbed down, then we removed the ladder (so he had enough room to move around) and he started pulling up rocks. He put them in a bucket on a rope we pulled up and emptied into a wheel barrow.  As you can see, almost the whole wheel barrow is full. Crazy little boys!

The crazy big boys found a snake down there and decided to keep him for a while...  Awwww, new friends... 😉
