Ah, the good old days...

The other week Dan was telling me he was born in the wrong time.  That he should have been born 150 years ago when men rode horses everywhere and carried guns on their hips constantly.  Then he wouldn't have to worry about economies, or insurance policies or mortgage brokers or any of that "crap".
Frankly that last part sounded good to me.

Two days later Isaac woke from his nap with a 105 degree fever and upon taking him to the Doctor he was diagnosed with Pneumonia, promply put on antibiotics and was on fever reducer for almost 2 days.
(After 106 fever in the middle of the night, we decided that was prudent).

After having given Isaac another dose of fever reducer I heard Dan say,  "Arn't we blessed that we can just give our child some medicine and know our child will be okay? I mean think about what they had to do before that?"
I replied, "Yes, children died... A lot of them...Are you sure you should have been born 150 years ago?"
I like living in a modern world, ...my chidren SURVIVE.

BTW Isaac is on his last couple days of his antibiotics and is doing GREAT!

Oh my goodness, we are glad we live in these modern days and children don't die so much. We are glad he's still here and doing much better. Give Isaac a big hug from Grandma and Grandpa Howlett

Amen, Sister! I've thought a LOT about that kind of thing. It's a blessing to live when dangerous pregnancies end with the survival of both mother and baby, and you don't have to wonder how many children will survive childhood. You can get tubes for the kids who get lots of ear infections, and not have kids go hard of hearing instead. You don't have to fear diseases like typhoid or polio...and on and on. But the challenges of this day are formidable too. I'm just so glad mortality is TEMPORARY!! Heaven looks REALLY good from here, if only a relief from earth life! And yet there's MORE on top of that there! :) :) :)
