Mercury and the woodsman.
Gideon played the woodsman.
This was one of the last things Gideon's class did for school. They picked a short play, painted the back ground, and created their own puppets (including moulding papier mache heads and sewing by hand their clothes). They then practiced and preformed the play for an audience.
They did a great job!
Its hard to hear the audio, so I'll give you a run down of the play here.
The woodsman is chopping wood and looses his axe in the river. Mercury hears him and, as a test, dives in the river and brings out a gold axe, which the woodsman honestly does not claim as his. Then Mercury dives in and fishes out a silver one, again the woodsman is honest. Finally Mercury dives in and gets the real axe, but as a reward gives him all three axes.
The woodsman goes and tells his family and his neighbor hears of it. The neighbor tries to do the same thing but greedily says the gold one is his, and mercury punishes him by not giving him any axes at all.
The moral of the story is: Honesty is the best policy.

Hey, that was a terrific job with the puppets, Gideon. How fun it must have been making the puppets, the back drop then doing the play. Great!
