This is my second post in a series just about my children.
This is very late, but I'm doing my best to catch up.
Gideon was born on a Thursday. My water broke at 9 am on the 23rd, I labored all day then right after midnight he finally appeared. (He prorably didn't want to share his birthday with his cousins!) He fought his way out of 3 cord wrappings and I tore badly as he was delivered. We joke that as his name means warrior, I was his first attempt at battle and he almost killed me. He was born about 2 months after his cousin George and they have been best friends since birth! They keep in contact and love being together.
Gideon was a well mannered baby who was happy and loved his mom. As he got older he hardly ever left my side. As a toddler and small child he'd never wander at a store. If he started begging for something, all I had to do was walk away and he'd run after me. He took a while to start talking, and I even taught him some sign language to help us communicate, but once he started, boy did he make up for his earlier silence!
He was always a happy child, very even keeled and obedient. He always amazed us with his honesty and integrity. He started school almost a month after he turned 5, so he was very young, and he struggled in some ways through Elementary school. It took him a while to really learn and enjoy reading but in middle school, he found the magic of a story well told and he was hooked! He has been doing very well in Middle school. He started taking trumpet in the 5th grade and has stayed with it through the 8th grade.

He began to really love cooking, even taking classes, and will often volunteer to make desserts, lunch and sometimes even dinner. He likes cooking I think, because he likes to EAT and when he cooks he gets to pick what to make. He's often said he wants to be a cheese maker when he grows up, and we've given him different kids of cheeses for birthdays or Christmas. At the moment his favorite kind is either Danish Havarti or as he says, extra, extra, extra sharp Cheddar cheese. He's a big helper at home, though we do a lot of reminding. :)
He loves computer games, reading, and watching movies. He has both the Robotech and Avatar series and has watched them both repeatedly. His favorite subjects in school are science and band. He loves scouts and being in the youth group at church. He takes his priesthood responsibilities seriously and serves as the 2nd counselor in the Deacon's Quorum presidency.
Our family is so very lucky to have Gideon as a member.
Gideon,
We Love You!
