Day four we did the Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon WA.
Two words for that trip.
COLD WIND.
There is snow on the top of that mountain in the distance!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Poor kids were wipped and battered by the wind so we didn't get great photos of us, but the sun was shining and our photos of the fields turned out beautiful.
We went to the Roozengaarde gardens for the wind break, and there we had a picnic.
Then, after taking more pics we went back to the car, where the sun had made it nice and warm inside.

You can see one eye of Benjamin if you look just to the left of my face. He was in a backpack. After we got home we had a fun evening with our great friends the Gremmerts. We had dinner and a sleepover. After the kids were in bed Dan and I stayed up late with Arden and Eva and we all sat in their hot tub chatting and laughing in the on and off sprinkling rain. The stars even came out for a bit. Ahhhhhhhh.
Day Five was SWIMMING!
Our other great friends the Harpers went with us to the YMCA and we swam, jumped, sloshed and laughed our way through a couple hours.
Isaac found a new love. He was scared at first but after a bit of coaching was practically fearless and quite the fish! Benjamin was even happy bouncing and splashing around. Claire and Gid honed their swimming abilities and had lots of fun with their friends Thomas and Katie.
Afterward we went to dinner together and then the kids went off to watch "How To Train Your Dragon"in 3D with the Dads and the Moms and babies went home for our own movie night. It was a satisfying day all around!
Day six was supposed to be a Movie Marathon. It never really materialzed as kids were off to a baseball game for part of it, and going to other events on and off through the day.
I wanted my kids to remember this spring break with fondness and I liked having something exciting to say when they would ask me... "What are we doing today???"

The fields of tulips look beautiful, but we can see how chilly it must have been with the wind blowing. I remember the fantastic colors!
