Isaac turned ONE

My Mother came and stayed with us last year when Isaac was born. Due to preterm labor and then Isaac not coming till later she was here (bless her selfless heart) for 5 weeks. So she got a true sampling of the Northwest spring weather... i.e. cloudy and rainy...ALL the time. The image above is the front of the shirt she sent Isaac as a birthday gift. Thanks Mom. You continue to be fantastic!

Isaac is enjoying his new birthday toys! Isaac's birthday was fun and memorable, though lower key than other's have been in the past due to almost no family being around and that it's the day after our anniversary. So we kept it very small. Isaac still had a blast! And boy does he like carrot cake! I made Isaacs birthday cake without any corn products because our good friend Eva is very allergic. So I made the cake from scratch, then I had to make my own frosting, all the store stuff has corn syrup, then I had to 'try' and make powdered sugar from reg sugar in my food processor. (Reg 'confectioners sugar' has corn starch for some reason) Well that was only about half successful. So we had half powder and half granular sugar for the frosting... grainy frosting is, well, weird. But it still tasted good! And Isaac liked it so that's the most important thing!

We always look at eachother in awe when we think about how fast time goes by. Well, I guess the evaporation of time is one of the lessons God is trying to teach us. Use it well, little grasshopper...use it well.

Love the t-shirt, love the icing story, & LOVE the frequent updates lately. (Did you know I check your blog almost daily?) I love (and am a bit jealous) of your garden. Trust you to plant something as "exotic" as garlic. Keep it up, love ya, Sis!
